Abstract / Rezension
Schlagworte: G.W.F. Hegel, Rechtsphilosophie, Theorie des Krieges, Recht im Kriege,
Humanitäre Intervention, Weltrepublik, Weltfrieden.
This work is a critique of Klaus Vieweg’s pacifist interpretation of the passages on
international law in the Philosophy of Right by G.W.F. Hegel. Vieweg proposed to
understand Hegel as an advocate of humanitarian interventions, international peace
alliances, and a finally a world republic to unite mankind. This work rejects that claim,
showing that the achievement of Hegel’s work is a more humane conduct of war and
the limitation of hate. Attempts to unite or pacify mankind are shown to be necessarily
contradicting those achievements and will provoke unjust and barbarian modes of war.
Keywords: G.W.F. Hegel, Philosophy of Right, Theory of War, Law of War, Humanitarian
Intervention, World Republic, Perpetual Peace.
